Rum Rebellion
The Rum Rebellion was the only successful armed takeover of the government in Australian history. The governor of NSW, William Bligh, was deposed by the New South Wales corps under the command of major George Johnston working closely with John Macarthur. The Rum Rebellion took place because it was the day the governor William Bligh was overthrown and replaced with a military Junta. Although known as Rum Rebellion, it had nothing to do with Rum. -
