The industrial revolution was the transition to new manufacturing processes in Europe and the United States. This caused many people to lose their jobs as new machines took their places. This lead to many families unable to have enough money to support them which forced them to steal. This resulted in British jails flooding with prisoners and eventually causing them to go to Australia. -
Captain Cook first arrives in Australia
In May 1768 Cook was promoted to the rank of lieutenant and given command of the bark Endeavour. On Endeavour, Cook first arrives in Australia on 25 Aug 1768. -

Stolen Generation
This is when’s aboriginal kids were take down from their parents and it broke many families apart. The British people believed that if a child has an aboriginal and a white parent, they are called half-caste (now it is considered to be a derogatory term) it will be easier to turn them into ‘white’. Some stolen kids were adopted by white families while some were taken into places where they were abused and badly cared for. -

Canberra became the capital of Australia on 1st of January 1911. -

WWI started and we teamed with Britain and New Zealand. More than 1000 Indigenous Australians out of 93000 fought in WWI. -
Indigenous Australians are allowed to vote!
Before 1967, your right to vote could depend on who was managing the polling booth on the day. It wasn't until 1984 that voting became compulsory for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders. -
