  • French/Indian War

    French/Indian War
    The British colonies and the French colonies often had disputes. It got so bad that eventually they just started fighting which started the 7 Year War. It is also called the Indian War because the French often relied on the Indians. Great Britain won the war and the French seceded from the land. (1754- 1753)
  • Industrial Revolution

    Industrial Revolution
    The industrial revolution began in England. It introduced new technologies that would change how things were done in the world. Many inventions were created making tasks a lot easier than before. (1760- 1840)
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    The Boston Tea Party was a political protest by the Sons of Liberty in Boston. They dressed up as Indians so no one would recognize them and threw 340 chests of British East India Company Tea, weighing over 92,000 pounds, overboard into the harbor.
  • Revolutionary War

    Revolutionary War
    The Revolutionary war was a war for independence in America. The Thirteen Colonies in North America wanted independence from Great Britain and they had to fight for it. Eventually, America signed the United States Declaration of Independence which freed them from British rule. (April 19, 1775- September 3, 1783)
  • Writing of the Constitution

    Writing of the Constitution
    The Constitution was written during the Philadelphia Convention. The old Congress set the rules the new government followed in terms of writing and ratifying the new constitution. It was signed on September 17, 1787.
  • Start of Factories

    Start of Factories
    The first factory begun in 1790. Samuel Slater, a cotton spinner's apprentice built a factory from memory to produce spindles of yarn.
  • Lewis and Clark

    Lewis and Clark
    Lewis and Clark were sent out to explore the land bought in the Louisiana Purchase and see what is out there and map it out. They faced harsh conditions, unknown people, and unexplored land to make them two of the greatest explorers. (May 1804- September 1806)
  • Missouri Compromise

    Missouri Compromise
    The Missouri Compromise was an act of Congress by which Missouri was admitted as a slave state, Maine as a free state, and slavery was prohibited in the Louisiana Purchase north of latitude 36°30′N, except for Missouri.
  • Bleeding Kansas

    Bleeding Kansas
    Kansas was voting for whether it was going to be a slave or free state. Northerners and Southerners from different states went into Kansas to skew the vote towards them. Fights broke out and it got really bad and lots of people died. (1855- 1861)
  • Civil War

    Civil War
    The issue of slavery was so bad that eventually the North and the South had a war about it. The North did not think that slavery was right so they fought against it. The South on the other hand was fighting for slavery. The South surrendered and it led to the end of slavery. (April 12, 1861- May 9, 1865)
  • Reconstruction

    Reconstruction
    A lot happened in the reconstruction of America. One of the biggest things was giving colored people more rights. The problem though was that whenever colored people would get a right, whites would do everything to overpower it. But with the help of the government, they made amendments that gave blacks more freedom and had protection from the mobs.
  • Assassination of Abraham Lincoln

    Assassination of Abraham Lincoln
    Lincoln was assassinated at Ford's Theater. John Wilkes Booth who was a famous actor fatally shot Abe in the back of the head then jumped off onto the stage and ran out. He was then later surrounded in a barn and killed.
  • Manifest Destiny

    Manifest Destiny
    Throughout the 19th century it was Americas destiny to expand westward and colonize the whole continent. Everyone moved west and with that a lot of new inventions were being created.
