The Dictation Test- 1901-1958
migrants who entered the country had to take a written test where they had to write 50 words in any European language. Read by an immigration officer. -
'The Boat People'- 1970's
In the 70's lots of migrants, immigrants and refugees game in boats to Australia after the Vietnam war. Australian government was in a public debate about Australia fighting in the Vietnam war. Even though there was a heated arguments about the Vietnam war they eased laws about immigration and most of the ' Boat People' were allowed to settle in Australia
