Italy became an independent nation after denouncement from Austria. This was from the success from the Risorgimento movement. The Word stems from resurgence which was the idea of the public at the time. The problem was that there were still bad tensions within Italy from the states. The image chosen is what the current state of Italy was at the time before the complete unification. This event is important because it shows how separated Italy was prior to it. -
Papal States taken over by new nation of Italy
on this date troops commanded by Napoleon the third were sent out of the Italian Peninsula. At this moment Italian troops stormed the point of weakness and took over the Papal states. Failure of First Italo-Ethiopian War with the Battle of Adowa (Adwa
this was a war that was fought from 1895-1896. This war was at first started from the Treaty of Wuchale. Then erupted into a large battle in cases like the battle of Adwa. Mussolini was arrested at a very crucial part of Italy's independence march as he was promoting socialism and imperialism. Upon release from prison he began editing for the Avanti newspaper. Mussolini kicked out of Socialist Party for pro-nationalistic sentiments regarding WW I
Mussolini's ideals were starting to show more focus on fasicism and less socialistic. This was because the party was in favor of remaining in a neutral government. Mussolini created a fighting group specifically made for socialists and nationalists. These groups were targeted because of their distraught towards the state. Mussolini had a slight change of heart that led him to forming the PNfF and in this party he was elected the leader because he seemed to be getting the heart of the public in his grasps. Mussolini admired the idea of the March on Rome which he ended up being a huge success as it established his power as prime minister because of the power of the fascist party. the image shows the march and it is clear that there was an overwhelming amount of support that backed this event. -

This law stated that the party with the most votes after the end count would have 2/3 of the parliament. This was significant because it showed the progress of the party as they went from a 35 seat party to 2/3(373). The event of the murder of an Italian general stirred up a large response where Italian troops stormed into Greek territory(Corfu). This was settled after Italians received 50 million from Greece. Matteotti Crisis
The Matteotti Crisis was the event of a man by the name of Matteotti. The reason it was labelled a crisis was because he was a peacefull speaker that represented socialists in the counrty. This day he was abducted and brutally murdered by fascists. The picture chosen was his coffin and a swarm of people around it. I chose this image because of the amount of the support the man had. He was peaceful and a speaker and this murder started a change in view of Mussolini. -
Locarno Treaty Signed
After World War 1,Britain and Italy would help if there were any aggression against the frontier of Italy. This was determined in the Lorcarno Treaty. The image shown is to display the number of people that it took to justify this important treaty. -
Battle for Grain
Italy naturally had a very minimal poor harvest. This became a goal for Mussolini to improve as it made him realize that he could win the peoples heart over once again. These battles were because of Mussolini's actions of draining swamps. This increased availability for small farms and more job opportunity. Mussolini also increased the currency value leading to a great depression.The image shows the process of the destruction of Swamps. -

The nation needed the exact opposite of the current state of China, The Battle for Births was Mussolini's way to increase the population in Italy in the late 1920's. This was to ensure men could go to war and women could stay at home and take care of the children. This was important as the nation needed a larger and more powerful population. A 15 country treaty that was an attempt to end the war in Europe. This treaty did not last long as most expected as the countries wend back to fighting.Italy also signed with Germany which was the main reason this resumed. The image shows representatives from each country. -

Mussolini sent 500,000 troops, who used advanced forms of weapons such as tanks, bombers and poison gas against people often only armed with spear in order to attack Abyssinia.
