Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. was a pastor and really led the Civil Rights movement, and up until his assassination. He lead many campaigns against the prejudice of the United States regulations, and to this day is very famous for his work. -

A group highly involved in the civil rights movement and its leader, MLK, and to this day they still fight for civil rights. -
Baker v. Carr
Decision in favor of Baker stating that the census must count every person. -
Thurgood Marshall's addition to the SCOTUS
Judicial activist Thurgood Marshall was added to the Supreme court in 1967, and helped make many decisions in favor of civil rights in his time as a SC judge. -
Loving V. Virginia
A lawsuit against the government of virginia and ruled in favor of Loving, stating that you cannot segregate marriage, and that any man can marry any woman. -
MLK's Assassination
Had the opposite impact of what the shooter wanted--it strengthened the movement, and the outrage was immense. This assassination happened right after MLK discussed possibly occupying the white house. -
Fair Housing Act
Prohibited ANY type of discrimination when it came to housing (race, sex, religion, etc.) and was a big part of the Civil Rights Act of 1968, finally bringing even the southern states to address Civil Rights to every human being. -
Black Lives Matter Movement
After George Floyd's death in 2020 there were protests around the entire US, and some still to this day. Very controversial in some cases but mostly peaceful protesting.
