Mayflower
This is the day that the Mayflower leaves England. They leave England for religous reasons. They traveled for 66 days with 102 passengers and a crew of 25-30. The Mayflower was originally a cargo ship and was not made for people. They were headed to New York City, but they actually ended up at Cape Cod Bay. They got there on Novemeber 11. -
Benjamin Franklin
Benjamin Franklin was born this day. He was an inventor and he invented the lightning rod and the bifocals. Ben also discovered that Kite+Key=Lightning Attraction. His face is the face on the $100 bill. Ben was one of the people who signed the Declaration of Independence. He died April of 1790 at the age of 84. Benjamin died from pleurisy. -

George Washington was born this day and died on December 14, 1799. He had 10 children with his wife, Mary Washington. His first job was a surveyor and he bought lots of land. George signed the Declaration of Independence. -

Valley Forge
This is the day that General George Washington's army of 12,000 arrived at Valley Forge. It is 25 miles northwest of Philadelphia. 2,500 soldiers died from diseases. It got it's name from Iron Forge on Valley Creek. There were around 500 women at Valley Forge. Women averaged 1 to 44 men.
