The U.S. Enters The War
-President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed American neutrality
-urged americans to be "impartial in thought as well as in action."
-submarine warfare played a huge part in bringing the U.S. into the war
-in May 1915, the Germans torpedoed an American tanker
-early in 1917, German submarine attacked American merchant ships
-the U.S. helped the Allies defeat Germany
-submarine warfare drew the U.S. into the war

Mussolini comes to Power in Italy
-Mussolini switched from socialism to a nationalism
-he used reminders of the glory ancient Rome to inspire patriotism and obedience
-turned facism into a political movement
-black shirts would roam the streets of Rome and beat up socialists or communist supporters
-this had a great impact and type of rollItaly played in the war
-Mussolini and Hitler had same belief which led to them being allies
-te effect was that Italy surrendered once the Allies pinned them down in their home country -
Dawes Plan
-the traty of Versailles required germany to pay stiff reperations
-totalling up to $33 billion
-they tried paying the debts by borrowing money or printing more paper money
-the result was disastrous
-resume reperations payments to the allies
-the U.S. promised to provide loans in order for Germany to rebuild it's economy
-this helped everyone get what they wanted peacefully

Stock Market Crash
-by November the total market value of stocks went down by about $30 billion
-this led to the Great Depression
-it triggered a world wide economic crisis
-by 1932, 85,000 businesses had failed
-unemployment rocketed from 3.2 to 23.6 percent in 1929
-this impacted the U.S. very bad
-this scarred U.S. forever
-stock market was so high, when it dropped nobody was ready for it
-caused the Great Depression and worldwide economic crisis -
Hitler Comes to Power
-Hitler formed a coalition government
-a fire probably caused by the Nazis destroyed the reichstag building, Hitler blamed the communists
-hitler removed all opposition parties and established a facist state in Germany
-he also proclaimed the birth of the third reich successor to the Holy Roman Empire
-hitler used many of Stalin's and Mussolini's ideas
-this led to hitler destroying europe
-hitler commited suicide when Germany was pinned down -
Germany occupies Czechoslovakia
-hitler convinced Czechoslovakia to let Sudetenland have self government
-the right to send German troops to the Sudetenland
-Chamberlain called for a meeting
-Britain, France, and Italy leaders, had a conference in Munich on Sep. 29, 1938
-hitler said he had no more territorial claims
-"peace of our time"
-hitler violated the agreement and occupied the rest of Czechoslovaakia
-this showed how hitler could not be trusted at all

Attack on Pearl Harbor
-Japan secretly attacked the U.S.
-punishing 2 hour raid
-damaged 8 American battleships, crippled 10 other ships, destroyed 188 planes and killed over 2,500 Americans
-three days later Japan's allies declared war on the U.S.
-this impacted the U.S. from being neutral to join the Allies
-Japan attacked Pearl Harbor
-led the U.S. to join the allies and the allies defeating the axis powers -
Yelta Pact WWII Ends
-free elections in eastern europe
-eastern poland would become part of the Soviet Union
-poland would receive part of east germany
-germany was to be divided intp American, British, French, and Soviet occupation zones
-after, the big three disgraced about carrying out these decisions
-this was the most peaceful way to pay back Germany's victims
-Germany wanted to be tough and own all of Europe
-Yalta Pact gave back to the countries that were victims -

-member nations agreed to submit dispute to the UN to wprk together amd solve world problems

-peoposed the British mandate of Palestine
-ended fighting between India and Pakistan
-this group still keeps world peace to this day
-the end of WWII or Cold War
-50 nations joined the UN to create world peace from nations in intense tentions
