This is a book written by Rachel Carson that focused on the use of pesticides in our environment. It polluted the environment because of the sprays and led to many changes in the environment. Her book was so effective that the use of pesticides got regulated and DDT got banned in 1972. -
The Cuyahoga River Fire
This was a polluted river in Ohio that caught on fire due to the high levels of pollution which oils floating in the river and industrial waste. This matters because it sparked the conversation of pollution control and the creation of the EPA and pollution law controls. -

The Bhopal Gas Tragedy
This took place in Bhopal, India which killed almost 4 thousand people. 40 tons of methyl isocyanate gas leaked from a pesticide plant which released very toxic gases into the air. This is known as one of the worst industrial accidents in history. -
The Exxon Valdez Oil Spill
Off the coast of Alaska about 11 million gallons of oil were released into the environmental. This caused an extreme amount of damage to the water pollution and ecosystems that affected local communities and the effect of this was it sparked awareness about the risk of oil transportation. -

Julia was an extreme environmentalist who spent her life working towards a better environment. Redwood trees were beginning to be cut down in her area, to protest this she lived in the tree for 2 years so it won’t be cut down. Her determination drew a huge amount of media attention. -

The Paris Agreement is a legally binding international treaty on climate change. Their goal was to stop global warming and stop the rise of the earths temperatures.
