    He was a antislavery activist, and an abolitionists.He believed he was God sent to free the slaves.
  • Uncle Toms Cabin

    This was a best selling novel written by Harriet Beecher Stowe. This novel was to ensure that the people who read it got a visualization of how graphic and painful slavery was for African Americans. She also wanted to change people perspectives and encourages people to speak out against slavery so it would be abolished.
  • Republican Party

    Republican Party
    The republican party consisted of Northern protestants, businessmen, farmers, and many other wealthy white men. This political party was formed in order to make sure slavery wouldn't spread after the passing of the Kansas- Nebraska Act.
  • Kansas-Nebraska Act

    The Kansas-Nebraska act was made in order to take away the Missouri compromise, making two other territories and making their be more popular sovereignty.

    This was a fight between the people that were for slavery and against slavery. It consists of murder, destruction, and peoples emotions getting the best of them. What was the most memorable of this blood shed was when John Brown and his sons chopped up 5 of the people that were for slavery.

    This was where a man that was proslavery had went in to the Senate while Brooks Sumner was giving a speech about slavery, and beat him with a metal cane nearly to death.

    James Buchanan show as democratic would win against John C. Fremont who was a republican. He would be the last democrat in presidency, until Theodore Roosevelt.
  • Dred Scott

    Dred Scott
    He was a man who was enslaved by John Emerson, but after his owners death he believed he was free. Due to this he sued someone for his reasoning that since where they lived was free he was free as well. Scott won the case.

    This was written by Stephen Douglas. This was where they wanted slavery to keep going, and it basically said that they wanted slavery to go on in Kansas.

    This was where Lincoln went against the spreading of slavery, but Douglas wanted to make it the states choice to decide whether they anted to be free or not.

    This was where John BRown attempted to abolish slavery. 21 men followed him down Harpers Ferry with weapons in order to get rid of slavery.

    Abraham Lincoln would win against 3 others. This caused a civil war because the North didn't want slavery and the South did, so it caused there to be more disfunction in between them since their president wanted to get rid of it.
  • Secession

    This was where South Carolina made it known of their secession from the United States. After this 10 other states made a decision to do the same. The reason they did this was in order to ensure their rights as a state, slavery, and because of the tariffs as well.
