Montesquieu publishes The Spirt of Laws
Montesquie was a political thinker of the French Revolution who created the spirit of the laws; A treatise on political theory, a pioneering work on common law by Montesquie. He had an enormous influence on the work of others such as the Founding Fathers of the United States Constitution. This treaty was created in 1748. -
THE FRENCH AND INDIAN WAR
It was the North American conflict of an imperial war between Great Britain and France, better known as the Seven Years' War. This war gave Great Britain great territorial gains. It began on May 28, 1754 and ended on February 10, 1763. -
THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE OF THE U.S.
On July 4, 1776, the Continental Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence, which was written by Jefferson, although some points were modified. From this, the 13 American colonies broke political ties with Great Britain. The Declaration of Independence was signed by George Washington. -
THE TREATY OF PARIS
It was signed by American and British representatives on September 3, 1783. It ended the American Revolutionary War and recognized the independence of the United States. The treaty is named after the city where it was negotiated and signed, Paris. -
THE THIRD ESTATE, THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY
Convoked by Louis XVI, the states general concluded when the third estate formed the National Assembly. This marked the outbreak of the French Revolution. The members of the third estate and some members of the clergy and nobility will constitute the national assembly. This occurred on May 4, 1789. -
STORMING OF THE BASTILLE
Emblematic conflict that occurred on July 14, 1789, during the French Revolution. Fear that King Louis XVI would arrest the recent national assembly led Parisians to successfully lay siege to the Bastila. Those who formed the bastille were artisans and merchants. It marked a turning point, it showed that the people could rise up against power. -
THE DECLARATION OF THE RIGHTS OF MAN AND OF THE CITIZENS
It is a fundamental charter of human freedoms, it contains the principles that inspired the French Revolution. Its 17 articles adopted on August 26, 1789 served as a preamble to the constitution of 1791. It had a great and significant impact on the development of popular conceptions of individual freedom. The Marquis de Lafayette wrote the draft. -
THE FLIGHT TO VARENNES
During the night of June 20, 1791 was an important event in the French Revolution in which the family of King Louis XVI attempted to escape from Paris, but without success. There the king wanted to start a counterrevolution. This sparked accusations of treason that ultimately led to the king's execution in 1793.
