    Timeline about 8 important inventions

Between 1836 and 1903, there have been very important events that have had an impact nowadays and in our lives. They are still useful for us, although they have improved.
  • TELEGRAPH

    TELEGRAPH
Samuel Morse created an electric telegraph able to transmit messages using an electrical impulse that moves along a wire among long distances. It used a system of dots and dashes, depending if there was electrical current or not. He developed it between 1832 and 1836. In 1837 it was finished, transmitting the first message between two cities, Washington and Baltimore, in 1844.
  • DYNAMITE

    DYNAMITE
Alfred Nobel patented the dynamite in 1867 in England. He was interested in the nitroglycerine, very dangerous. He stabilized the nitroglycerine mixing it with an absorbent material, a compound of algae, creating the dynamite. It was revolutionary because in mining made it easier to extract gold and in railways to create tunnels. It was also used in demolition.
  • TELEPHONE

    TELEPHONE
Alexandre Graham Bell patented the telephone in the United States in 1876. He had many problems with it, because he had to face many requirements from Elisha Gray and Antonio Meucci. Bell was able to make the first phone call three days after of his patent. This was revolutionary because it transmitted complex sounds waves using electric signals. The telegraph allowed to transmit monotone sounds.
  • FIRST LIGHT BULB

    FIRST LIGHT BULB
Thomas Alva Edison tested the first light bulb in the United Stated of America in 1879. He improved this type of bulbs, making them cheaper, more practical and more durable, because the filament was made of carbonated bamboo, this is why it was revolutionary. The light bulb shone more than ten hours at his laboratory in Menlo Park.
  • CAR COMBUSTION INTERNAL ENGINE

    CAR COMBUSTION INTERNAL ENGINE
Karl Benz created the first car with internal combustion engine in 1886 in Germany. It was a vehicle of three wheels with a four-stroke. It transformed the way of traveling. His wife was the first person in history to drive one of these vehicles. She drove it between Mannheim and Pforzheim, more than 100 kilometres, at a speed of 16 Km/h.
  • CINÉMATOGRAPHE

    CINÉMATOGRAPHE
The Lumière brothers patented, in 1895, the cinématographe during the industrial period. It allowed to film and project films. This device was the initial of the cinema. It was a wood box with a lens that had a film of 35 millimetres wide turned by a handle. They presented their first film in Paris to more than thirty people.
  • WIRELESS ACROSS THE ENGLISH CHANNEL

    WIRELESS ACROSS THE ENGLISH CHANNEL
Marconi transmitted wireless across the English Channel in 1899. The message was sent from Dover to Boulogne. He created an oscillator able to transmit electromagnetic waves through air without needing wire to transmit them. It was the first transmission of radio in history. It allowed to transmit messages between ships in the middle of the ocean. Nowadays is used for the internet.
  • POWERED AIRPLANE

    POWERED AIRPLANE
Orville Wright piloted the first powered airplane in 1903 during more than ten seconds in the United States. They made a tunnel of wind to test different wings and solved problems, such us the control. The plane went through more than 20 metres. It was revolutionary because people could go from one place to another in a short period of time.
