  • January 8, 1940 - Rationing begins in Britain.

    On the 8th of January 1940 rationing was introduced in Britain. With over 70% of the food supply imported before WWII, the government decided to safeguard against any plots to starve Britain into submission by introducing the rationing scheme. The new scheme was well documented across the newspapers.
  • March 12, 1940 - Finland signs a peace treaty with Soviets.

    The Moscow Peace Treaty was signed by Finland and the Soviet Union on 12 March 1940, and the ratifications were exchanged on 21 March. It marked the end of the 105-day Winter War, upon which Finland ceded border areas to the Soviet Union.
