    The Indian Removal Act was a law that authorized the president to grant lands west of the mississippi in exchange for Indian lands within state borders.

    The Natives traveled over 5,000 miles to Indian Territory which is new present day Oklahoma. It is called the Trail of Tears because a lot of Natives died due to sickness,starvation, the cold and hot, and exhaustion.
