    When the colonists saw that their tea was being taxed, they saw this as another tax without their consent. In return, the Sons of Liberty dressed up as Native Americans and dumped 90,000 pounds of tea in the sea.

    The Battle of Concord & Lexington: In 1775, a British general sent some redcoats to Concord because of a tip he received that the colonists were storing weapons. The colonists had found out about this so they gathered some minutemen in Lexington (this was on the way to Concord) the minutemen had blocked the road. they ran into some redcoats and it got a bit heated no one knows who shot first but someone did- this ended up with 18 colonist casualties (8 dead or some were injured)
  • battle of bunker hill

    at daybreak, 2000 redcoats attacked the colonists where ordered not to fire until they saw the whites of their eyes this was so they would not miss because they had a low supply of gunpowder. redcoats where pushed down the hill twice but on the third try the British had won this was the start of the war
  • victory at trenton

    Washington and his troops crossed the Delaware and surprised the hessians that ended up with the British surrendering this was because they were not ready for the attack

    The French started to help the patroits after the win at saratoga baron von stuben was a german officer who trained the patriots

    a week later from the victory at Trenton the Patriots had captured 300 more British troops

    after the win at Saratoga, the Continental Army decided to winter at Valley Forge a brutal winter set in the army was low on supplies. a lot of the soldiers died during this time

    Burgoyne was getting through the new york wilderness slowly that gave washinton the time to plan when Burgoyne finally gat to saratoga springs the area was swarming with malita Burgoyne finally surrendered on 10/17/1777

    when spring 1778 came the British were planning to leave Philadelphia Washington wanted to try out his newly trained army as the British left philidalphia the patriots had pushed them all the way to Monmouth nj then they had pushed them all the way to nyc

    he began the "southern campaign" by taking Savannah ga then he pushed through the Carolina's he then left lord Cornwallis in charge

    cornwallis had moved his army to yorktown virgina in august Washington moved his army in secret. on 10/6/1781 the trap sprang the patriots and the french began the assault that lasted for days
  • treaty of paris

    to end a war a treaty must be signed in early 1783 representatives from England and America met in France to make a treaty the treaty had 3 major parts 1) England must recognize America as a country. 2) England must give up all land claims east of the Mississippi and south of Canada. 3) The US would have to return all land and property of the loyalists taken during the war

    the loyalist did not think the treaty would hold so they fled to Canada where the British still had hold this war impacted many others this caused the french revolution and south america
