This court case between the state of Maryland and James McCulloch established that the state government cannot tax the federal government. -
Adams-Onis Treaty
The Adams-Onis Treaty was between the US and Spain, in which Spain would surrender Florida to the US, it becoming a new state. -
Missouri Compromise
This compromise, between the slave and the free states of the US, would create two new states (Missouring being a slave state and Maine being a free state) and would also create a "border" where slavery couldn't cross. -
Monroe Doctrine
A statement issued by president James Monroe, that opposed European involvement in the Americas, specifically the US. -
Six Shooter Revolver
Samuel Colt invented a six-shooter revolver that provided better protection since it had six bullets (instead of one) and helped win the Mexican War.
