    Sets sail on the HMS Beagle
    On December 27, 1831, Charles Darwin set sail on the HMS Beagle from Plymouth, England. He was only 22 at the time and this would be the voyage where he would start collecting specimens from and begin his ideas that would turn into his theories of evolution.
  • The Origins of Species is published

    The Origins of Species is published
    In 1858 he published his famous book, "The Origins of Species. This book led to the belief by most scientists that humans and animals evolve from lesser organisms and that they evolved through natural selection.     On April 19th, 1882, Charles Darwin died at Down House in Downe, United Kingdom and was later buried in Westminster Abbey. It is said that on his death bed that he said, "How I wish I had not expressed my theory of evolution as I have done." though it is not known how accurate this is.
