Socrates and Plato had a very big impact on families. Socrates had critical thinking skills, and that did affect family dynamics and it did promote a very open communication. Plato was a student of Socrates, and he introduced concepts about an ideal state and roles of individuals. In “The Republic”, Plato does talk about how education and the role of family shape citizens. -

Theater has impacted families because it does explore many themes such as love, conflict, and betrayal as well. Many of Shakespere’s plays mainly allow families to reflect on their own experiences and feelings as well, and it offers many insights on human behavior and emotions. -

Gothic Literature can affect families because it explores many themes of fear, mystery, and many strong emotional responses. It is more like a family of texts or stories. For example, in the film Rebecca, she falls in love with Maxim de Winter, they get married very quickly, and they don’t start a family yet, but they are a family of two. -

Classical Music is related to family because Mozart’s family did provide him with emotional support throughout all of his life, and he also collaborated with family members as well. This shows that family could be with you through everything. -

In the painting Mary Cassatt: The Boating Party (1893), shows of how there is a family of three on a boat, and it shows that they’re having very well quality time together. Another example could be The Third-Class Carriage by Honore Daumier, in 1884. This painting shows family riding together in a carriage. Another example could be George Seurat: Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte, in 1886. This shows that there is family spending some time together at a park with their dog. -

Jazz and Blues Music have a lot in common to family because they both originated in African American communities, and this was around the 20th Century. Ma Rainey’s “Prove it on me” is an example of themes in blues music. Another example could be Louis Armstrong’s St. Louis Blues (1929). This shows that many families often listened, mainly African Americans. -

In the Great Depression, it affected many families because many families faced financial hardships such as jobs and many were lost as well. Many children suffered from malnutrition and also a lack of healthcare. Many families had to move in together to share resources. For example, Henry Ford’s assemble line made it very affordable for the first generation of Americans, and it is very useful for families, as they could ride places. -

The Empire State Building (1930), shows and relates to family because it states how many families could travel to see it, and they could also travel to see New York in general, because it is a very gorgeous place to visit. An example could be Falling Water- Frank Lloyd Wright (1925). This shows and explains that this is a modern place to live, especially the exterior and how it has a great design, and the interior, and how it’s a family home. Casa Batllo (Gaudi,1904) shows how you can travel.
