  • Nuremberg Laws in effect against Jews

    The Nuremberg laws included, German citizens could not marry a jew,and jew's were to be stripped of citizenship. These laws were essentially the start of the Jewish extermination.
  • Italy into Ethiopia

    Italy invaded Ethiopia after adopting Hitlers plans to expand territory. The goal was to improve Italian national prestige.
  • Italy, Germany & Japan signed Anti-Comintern Pact, against Russia

    This was a pact signed to go against the Soviet Union.   • Full invasion and takeover of Czechoslovakia

    On September 30, 1938, Adolf Hitler, Benito Mussolini, French Premier , and British Prime Minister, signed the Munich Pact, this pact attempted to hand over Czechoslovakia to the Nazis in the name of peace. This handed over Czeckslovakia to Germany and allowed Germany to dominate them. On March 15th 1939, at a meeting with the president of Czech, Hilter threatened to bomb the capitol unless he received free entry for german troops to Czech borders. He received this and the Nazis enter Czech.

    Hitler and Stalin sign the Nazi-Soviet non-aggression pact, this agreement was a promise that if Hitler invaded Poland he would eliminate the 'undesirables' and give Stalin the eastern portion. Hitler later invaded Poland through the east. Shocking everyone.
  • Germany invades Poland with Blitzkrieg warfare

    German invades Poland with Blitzkrieg warfare, German units, with more than 2,000 tanks and over 1,000 planes, broke through Polish defenses along the border and advanced on Warsaw in a huge encirclement attack. After lots of shelling and bombing, Warsaw surrendered to the Germans on September 27, 1939.

    This battle started on September 3rd 1939 and lasted the duration of the war. This battle was essential to the allies victory. Germany and the Britain both fought for control of the Atlantic. As Britain's supplies were being sent in convoy's across the Atlantic, Germany thought if they could stop the transportation of supplies their victory would be assured.

    The Germans goal in this battle was to weaken British air defense to prepare for an invasion. They bombed harbors and shipping facilities before bombing aircraft factories and airfields. They also bombed cities such as London. Canada was one of the countries which supplied pilots in this battle. This battle took the lives of over 23 000 people.

    This surprise attack on the coast of Hawaii by the Japanese against the United States. The purpose of this attack was to keep the USA from interfering with Japan's plans to expand territory. More than 2400 Americans died in this attack.

    After the attack on Pearl Harbour, many Canadians worried that Japanese-Canadians were spies. Even thought most Japanese-Canadians had never been to Japan in their life, and have no ties to the country. Many were sent back to Japan, or put in labour camps

  • Battle of Stalingrad

    This battle lasted from July 17 1942- February 2 1943. It was a successful Soviet defense of the city Stalingrad. Russians consider it to be the greatest battle of their Great Patriotic War, and most historians consider it to be the greatest battle of the entire war. This battle was one of the bloodiest in history, with around 2 million casualties.
