Greg Mortenson is born in Minnesota. This is important because if Greg was never born then he would have never climbed K2, built a school for Korphe, or been a part of the CAI. -
Chrisiana's Death
Christiana, Greg's sister, passes away. This inspires Greg to leave her necklace on top of K2 in her honor, but when he doesn't make it to the peak, he helps the Balti people in her honor instead. -
Climb Up K2
Greg starts his climb up K2 and come back down after a fellow climber get sick. This is important because it is the start of his journey to meet the villagers of Korphe and eventually build them a school. -
Big Donation
Jean Hoerni donates twelve thousand dollars to build the school for Korphe. This is important because it not only helps the villagers tremendousley but Greg also builds a frienship with Jean and gets a lot more money to build schools for other Pakistani's.(Jean on far right) -
Pennies for Peace
An elementary school starts to collect pennies for Greg's cause. This is important because at the time it probably helped Greg's moral and it started a nationwide effort to collect money for building schools in Pakistan. -
Bridge First
The villagers of Korphe, along with Greg decide that they need a bridge for communication to the outside world, instead of a school, first. This is important because it shows Greg's determination and dedication in helping the Balti. -
Marriage
Greg meets Tara Bishop September thirteenth and gets married on the nineteenth. This is important because she supports and helps him while he builds schools. -
CAI Job
The Central Asia Institute is started to build more schools in Pakistan and the rest of Central Asia. This is important because it is when Greg finally has staedy resources and can mass produce school buildings easier. -
Kidnapped
Greg is kidnapped in Waziristan, Pakistan and held for eight days. This is important because Greg could have just stopped trying to helpthe villagers of Korphe and could have started a normal life when he was released but continued building schools and educating Pakistan's youth. -
Three Cups of Tea Published
The book, "Three Cups of Tea" is published. This is important because it tells Greg's story to the world and helped raise awareness for education in the middle east.
