Phase One: Normal science where essentially science is business as usual. What we know works and continues to work. Phase Two: Crisis Model. Where too many anomalies have added up and new things need to be tired. Phase Three: Model Revolution where new ideas are created to solve problems. Phase Four: Paradigm shift.

The debate raged to the point where both scientists could no longer hide how much they disagreed on topics.Popper has been a name in Philosophy of Science for years previously, while Kuhn had just published "The Structure of Scientific Revolutions" so it was an interesting way to see the old manners of thinking versus the new.
