  • Birth

    Thomas Samuel Kuhn was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on July 18th, 1922.
  • Radio Research Group

    In 1943, while Kuhn attended Harvard he joined a group tasked with devising countermeasures against enemy radar during World War 2. His work took him to the United Kingdom as well as Germany before returning back to Harvard at the end of the war.
  • Masters Degree

    Thomas Kuhn graduated Harvard with a Masters Degree in Physics and received his doctorate in 1949.
  • University of California

    Kuhn accepted an offer as assistant professor in History and Philosophy. Later on he was given a tenure for Advanced Study at Stafford University. This is where he began to write "The Structure of Scientific Revolutions". In 1961 he became a professor for History of Science at Berkeley even though he wanted to teach Philosophy.
  • The Copernican Revolution

    In 1957, Thomas Kuhn published "The Copernican Revolution". This book was important for the revolution in science and philosophy as well as astronomy. This book was so important because it gave the framework for understanding the Universe and predicted a set of basic physical laws. This also was the start of the heliocentric model where the Sun was at the center of the Universe.

    In this book, Kuhn goes over the history of science and scientific revolutions "subverts the existing tradition of scientific practice".     Thomas Kuhn died at the age of 73 in his home in Cambridge.
