Thomas Samuel Kuhn was born July 18, 1922 in Cincinnati, OH died June 17, 1996 Cambridge, MA. Thomas Kuhn was an American physicist, historian and philosopher of science. His father was Samuel L. Kuhn an industrial engineer, and Minette Stroock Kuhn. Thomas Kuhn graduated from Taft school in Watertown, CT in 1940, while in grade school Kuhn became aware of his serious interest in mathematics and physics. -
Thomas Kuhn: Early Adulthood
Thomas Kuhn obtained his Bachelor's of Science degree in physics from Harvard University in 1943, he also obtained his Master's of Science and PhD degrees in physics in 1946 and 1949, under the supervision of John Van Vleck. Thomas Kuhn has three years of total academic freedom as a Harvard Junior Fellow were crucial in allowing him to switch from physics to the history and philosophy of science giving him a lot of knowledge he has now. -
