War work
During the summer of 1943 Kuhn was apart of the Radio Research Laboratory's theoretical group. He was tasked with countermeasures against enemy radar. He traveled with the Royal Air Force to France to study captured German radar installations. -
PhD
Kuhn completed his master's degree in Physics at Harvard in 1946 and the his doctorate in 1949. His thesis topic was "The Cohesive Energy of Monovalent Metals as a Function of the Atomic Quantum Defects." This resulted in Kuhn being chosen to join the Society of Fellows at Harvard. -
The Copernican Revolution
Kuhn was studying Aristotle's work and very quickly became perplexed by his work. He decided to dive into studying the history of science. In his first book "The Copernican Revolution" Kuhn as studying the development of heliocentric theory of our solar system. -
The Structure of Scientific Revolutions
In his second book Kuhn 'argued that scientific research and thought are defined by "paradigms," or conceptual world-views, that consist of formal theories." as stated by Britannica. Scientists will accept the most recent and accurate paradigm and try to refine that theory. -
Collection of Essays
The Encyclopedia Britannica states "Kuhn’s book revolutionized the history and philosophy of science, and his concept of paradigm shifts was extended to such disciplines as political science, economics, sociology, and even to business management. All of Kuhns work later on were a collection of Essays "Black-Body Theory(1977) and the Quantum Discontinuity(1978)."
