Thomas Kuhn graduated in 1943 from Harvard with a B.S. in Physics. He was also a "Harvard Junior Fellow" for 3 years which influenced his decision to switch from physics to history and the philosophy of science. From there he would go on to earn his M.S. and Ph.D in 1946 and 1949.

Thomas Kuhn wrote a book called "The Copernican Revolution" in 1957. In this book he talks about Copernicus' Heliocentric model and how it influenced society during the Renaissance.

In 1962, Kuhn writes "The Structure of Scientific Revolutions". It is in this book where he first coins the term "Paradigm Shift". A paradigm shift is a discovery or breakthrough in science that forces change on other aspects of science.
