    Birth of Thomas Kuhn
    Thomas Kuhn was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on 18 July 1922. He was the first of two children born to Samuel L. and Minette Kuhn, with a brother Roger born several years later. His father was a hydraulic engineer who served in the Army Corps of Engineers.

    In the spring of 1943, Thomas Kuhn graduated from Harvard University with his bachelor's and master's degrees in physics. After graduation, Kuhn worked with research on radar counter technology, under John van Vleck’s supervision. This job gave him a deferment from the draft. Kuhn was also able to obtain a Ph.D. in the history of science at Harvard University as well.

    In July of 1961, Kuhn completed a draft of Structure and it was officially published in 1962. Kuhn proposed a new image of science in this book. The difference was based on a shift from a logical analysis and an explanation of scientific knowledge as finished product to a historical narration and description of scientific practices.

    Thomas Kuhn died on June 17 1996 in Cambridge, Massachusetts after suffering for two years from cancer of the throat and bronchial tubes. He was 73 years old. He was known as one of the most influential philosophers of his time. He formulated groundbreaking theories of paradigm and was very influential in his works on history as well.
