    Birth and Death dates
  • Paradigm Shift

"Kuhn first described the paradigm shift in his 1962 book The Structure of Scientific Revolutions. The concept had been in his mind for many years, starting when he asked himself how an intelligent man like Aristotle could have harbored absurd ideas about motion"(Famous Scientists). Kuhn is considered the original puzzle solver in terms of how scientists are able to find different approaches to the scientific method and ultimately finding change when a certain method fails.
  • Summary

"Thomas Kuhn introduced the paradigm shift into our language and culture. His initial impulse to do so came when, although a physicist, he could not understand the physics of Aristotle from over two millennia earlier" (Famous Scientists). An example that Kuhn used to explain a paradigm shift is that Copernicus thought that earth was the center of the universe but after several decades, a paradigm shift occurred within science that the sun is actually the center of the galaxy.
