    Irme Lakatos was born in Debrecen Hungary he was philosopher of mathematics and science. he received a degree in mathematics, physics and philosophy from university of Debrecen in 1944. later obtaining a PhD in 1948

    Lakatos best contribution to the philosophy of science would be his model named "Research Programme." In this model, he tries to find the answer to the conflict between Popper's theory on falsificationism and Kuhn's theory of normal science where science undergoes periodic revolutions also called paradigm shifts. His model is based on having "hard core" theoretical assumptions that cannot be abandoned

    in 1976 his book was officially published called "Proof and refutation: The logic in mathematical dicoveries" . in his book many of his ideas are explained. Lakatos explains that his purpose is to challenge formalism in mathematics, and to show that informal mathematics grows by a logic of "proofs and refutations".
