On April 14, 1743 a baby with a purpose was born. This baby was known as Thomas Jefferson. This influential baby would be a man who sparked many during America's toughest times. -

When Thomas Jefferson was 25, he was elected to be a part of the Virginia House of Burgesses. The Virginia house of Burgesses was the first attempt to spread democracy in the colonies. -

Thomas Jefferson founded this University in hopes that his home state would get a good chance of successions. "We wish to establish in the upper country of Virginia, and more centrally for the State, a University on a plan so broad and liberal and modern, as to be worth patronizing with the public support, and be a temptation to the youth of other States to come and drink of the cup of knowledge and fraternize with us." Thomas Jefferson died on the auspicious day that America got its independence. He suffered from pneumonia and diarrhea. -

That would have caused tensions in the southern states automatically. They sould have gone on with slaves. If they had listened to Thomas Jefferson, then maybe the war wouldn't have been so brutal. (slavery was only one of the 5 causes of the war, so the war still would have happened.)
