Thomas Edison was born into a family of 6. His parents were Samuel and Nancy Edison. His dad Samuel was a political activist from Canada that was exiled for his beliefs. The communist manifesto was written on Feb 21 1848 by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels. Communism swept through Europe and consumed countries like China and Russia whole. Countries that used communism were greatly weakened because of it. Also the manifesto caused revolutions across the globe. -

If the revolutions were successful the citizens implemented communism into their government which just ended up weakening them even more and putting the country’s citizens in a even worse state than they were before communism. People fought so hard for communism because it sounds like such a great thing where everyone shares and everyone is equal but it never works no matter how hard you try it just weakens nations.

Edison Burns Down the Family Farm
In 1853 Thomas Edison was experimenting in his family’s barn and ended up catching the barn on fire. After the incident he was wiped and scolded by his parents but that didn’t stop him he kept experimenting not caring about what happened to him or the people around him. -

Edison Became Home-schooled
In 1854 Thomas Edison was pulled out of public school and home-schooled by his Mom. He was taken out of school because his teachers deemed him him difficult because he was very hyperactive and was very easy to distract. His Mom nurtured Edison’s love of learning and taught him the most important thing to learn. Edison’s Mom fought him how to educate himself and learn from himself and that carried him through his life and made him the genius that he was. -

Thomas Edison Sets off a Chemical Explosion inside a Train
When Thomas was 12 years old he accidentally set off a chemical explosion inside a train which could of killed a lot of people. Lucky it didn’t but he got banned from the train station and hit on the head hard by a train conductor. His is another example of Edison’s curiosity. He gets harshly punished for experimenting but he does not care he wants to know the answer to his questions and doesn’t care who gets hurt due his experiments. Even after the explosion Edison never stopped experimenting. -

Thomas Saved a girl from a train and learns how to work a telegraph
In 1861 Thomas saved a 3 year old girl from a train and her father thought him how to work a telegraph to repay him. When Thomas got older he used his skills he learned from the girls father to get his first real job. Sadly as technology grew the telegraphs moved away from mores code and instead used sounds to relay the message but because he lost his hearing years earlier he was forced out of a job and became the world renowned inventor we know him as today. -
The Assassination of Abraham Linclon
The 16th president of the United States, Abraham Lincoln was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth while he was watching a Play with his wife at the Petersen House, Washington, D.C. Lincoln was brought to a nearby boarding house where he died the next day. After his passing he was sent on a train back to his home in Springfield, Illinois to be buried.

Cuba Begins 10 Year war with spain
The 10 years war began on October 10 1868 and ended on February 11 1878. The Cuban people wanted to be freed of the reign of the Spanish. Carlos Manuel de Cespedes wrote the Grito de Yara. After writing this speech he freed is slaves and declared war on the Spanish crown. Other farmers were inspired by the speech that they also freed their slaves and donated their land to the war effort. -
Cuba Starts 10 year war with Spain Cont.
After 10 years of fighting neither side had won so they met and made a peace treaty which stated that all slaves that fought in the war will be freed but slavery will still exist in Cuba and it is still under Spain’s control. Even though the war was a tie it gave the Cubans a taste of freedom and they won’t stop until they get it.

The Electric Vote Counter
Edison’s first invention was an electric vote counter that could be used in legislation to quickly count votes but they were not interested because they wanted the votes to be counted slowly so they can have enough time to change the opinion of other people so they will vote for their cause. Even though his first invention was a failure that didn’t stop him from inventing. Edison never stopped no matter what anyone said about his creations. -

Franco-Prussian War
The Franco-Prussian war was between France and the German states led by Prussia. In total the war cost the lives of 28,018 soldiers. The war was caused because France was scared of loosing its role as the dominate country of Europe to Prussia and Spain. Also Napoleon III was told that if the French won the war it would make him more popular among the French people. Eventually Prussia took control of Paris and won the war and became the dominate power in Europe but not without great casualties. -

The Adventures of Tom Sawyer established the American vision of childhood while telling a great story. The adventures of Tom Sawyer also brought Mark Twain to fame. The book shows us how life was back in the 1800's but from the perspective of a 12 year old. This is special because very few books show how life was for kids back then. Toms adventures show us why its so great to live in America. -

In 1876 Thomas Edison was inventing and experimenting in the first industrial research lab in Menlo. He also hired teams of scientists and engineers to aid him in his research. In this lab he created the phonograph which brought him and his laboratory to worldwide fame and game him the name of “The wizard of Menlo Park”. People came across the globe to see his phonograph but Thomas didn’t linger in his success he went directly into he next project. -

Thomas’ favorite invention and the one who brought him to fame was the phonograph which was created is 1877 in the Menlo Park lab. The phonograph was able to capture a sound and play it back. Thomas Edison patents the electrical light bulb
Thomas Edison's light bulb greatly influenced life as we know it. It guaranteed him a spot as one of the greatest inventors of all time. Without the light bulb our houses would be lit with fire and we couldn't have lights on our Christmas trees. Edison's invention accelerated the creation of light up screens which are used in computers laptops phones and tablets. Also it showed the world that we could harness electricity to give us power which gave us electronics and many other appliances. -

Joseph Stalin Rose to Power
Joseph Stalin rose to power in 1923. While he was in power he made the U.S.S.R. a industrial and military superpower. But he also caused the worst man made famine in history. After Stalin rose to power he executed or sent potential threats to his reign to labor camps. Under his rule millions of his own citizens were killed. He also had the government take control of all the farms in the U.S.S.R. And if the owners refused the soldiers were ordered to kill or exile them. -

Thomas Edison's death
Thomas Edison passed away on October 18 1931 in West Orange New Jersey. He was killed by his type 2 diabetes. In Edison’s life he patented over 1,000 things and became one of the best know inventors in America. When he passed away in honor of him millions of people in America left their lights on through the night. In his life he had be punished by his parents for experimenting lost his hearing is a chemical explosion and save a girl from a train all in his childhood. -
