An American flag ship was badly damaged. Oliver Perry switched to a different ship until the war was over. With the port conquered Britian was forced to retreat to Canada. -

Creek Warriors attacked several American settlements. Jackson took arms and defeated the Creeks. A treaty forced them to give up millions of acres of land. -

A British force marched into DC. The president's wife took important documents and fled. Americans were surrprised they could not defend DC. -
The Writing of the Star-Spangled Banner
Francis Scott Key wrote on the back of an old envolope a poem he called the Star-Spangfled Banner. In 1931 the peom was made the national anthem by Congress. -
Hartford Convention
A group of Federalists met in Hartford,Conneticut. They suggested that all New England states withdraw from the US. After the treaty reached them the Hartford Convention was swiftly over.
