This invasion was a major turning point in the war in Europe and worldwide. 3 million Germans invaded Russia and by October 15th the Germans had swept through Russia and were only 100km from the Russian capital Moscow. However they were slowed down significantly by the Russians. This meant Germany lost their ally in Russia and created a war on 3 fronts for Hitler which bogged his resources down.
