    Protests held at campuses in rallies and school-held events during The Vietnam War to protest what was happening in Vietnam. The most recognized school this was held in by students was University of California - Berkeley.
  • Gulf of Tonkin Resolution

    The initial involvement of the U.S. in The Vietnam War. This gave Lyndon B. Johnson a "blank check" to get/use any needed materials and supplies in order to help South Vietnam.
  • Operation Rolling Thunder

    A military tactic used by the U.S. Military that allowed sustained bombing inside of North Vietnam. Approx. 643,000 bombs were dropped during The Vietnam War and cost the U.S. nearly $900 million.
  • Tet Offensive

    Suprise attacks by the North Vietnamese on the South Vietnamese and U.S. soldiers. Began around the Vietnamese New Year called "Tet".
  • My Lai

    The U.S. soldiers entered the village of My Lai at this time to look for the Vietcong, but instead they killed many, many civilians, including elderly men and women, women, and their children.
  • The Secret Bombing of Cambodia

    Nixon announced at this time to bomb Cambodia in order to overtake the Vietcong stationed and hiding in Cambodia. An estimated 40,000-150,000 civilians and Vietcong were killed in Cambodia
  • Kent State Massacre

    Four students were killed during this protest at Kent State University in Kent, OH. This campus held many protests about The Vietnam War and the U.S.'s involvement.
  • A Peace Treaty is Signed

    This is the date many Americans consider to be the end of the war between North Vietnam and South Vietnam.

    The Vietnam Veteran Memorial was created within sight of the Washignton Memorial. An architectural student from Yale designed the wall in a "V" shape that named all 58,183 U.S. soldiers that died during the War.
