The Geneva Accords is signed which divides Vietnam at the seventeenth parallel. -
Guerilla War Begins
The Vietcong began using Guerilla warefare tactics. This style of fighting became an infamous symbol of the Vietnam war. -

Nearly 4,000 Vietnamese officals were killed by the Vietcong. -
JFK Orders Assistance
President John F. Kennedy orders assistance for the Vietnamese against the Vietcong Guerillas. This involved the sending of supplies as well as US military advisors. -

Operation Ranchhand begins. The goal is to clear pathways in order to locate the Vietcong and prevent them from hiding. -
Protest in South Vietnam
Shots were fired into a crowd of Buddhist monks. This inspired more protest including the self-immolation of Buddhist monks. -

War Official Ends for US
The United States combat soilders have officially returned home. Sadly, many died and were wounded. -
Saigon Falls
Saigon is taken by North Vietnam and the war is offically over. -
Ceasefire Signed
A peace agreement is signed. Vietnam agrees to hold open elections and US agrees to withdrawl.
