Major Dale R. Buis and Master Sargeant Chester M. Ovnand become the first Americans to die in the Vietnam War during the guerilla strike at Bienhoa. -
The American initiative
This was the first combat-mission against the Vietcong. This was the first time, they participated in the conflict in an agressive manner. This events lasts 12 days and over 80 choppers and around a thousand soldiers participated. -
