    The ever powerful German army attempted to fly into Britain and take over. However, they did not account for the power of the Britains, and lost a mostly aerial battle. The significance of the event is that it left the Germans feeling down that they could not take over Britain, and it also left the Brittish feeling stronger and prouder than ever before, giving them a new mean to win the war

    HItler invaded the Russian lands, breaking the non-aggression pact he not only signed, but also created, and attempted to crush the entire Soviet Union all at once. Hitler, completely ignoring history, was doomed to repeat it and lost thousands of men in an attempt to further expand his country. The significance of the event was that it gave the Russians preide and hope they could beat the Germans, and severely weakened the German Army

    After invading Russia, Hitler turned his sights on Moscow, a near-collapsing capital of Russia. However, the Soviets rallied together and fought back against the GErmans, pushing them back. The significance of the event is that it was the first REAL proof that the Soviet army wasn't immortal since the War began,

    This battle was the Russian defense and offense against the German "Operation Blau". The Germans once again tried to take over Russia, but the Russians defended. Then, they fought back against the Germans. THis event left a big hole in the German offense, as well as being one of the reasons Germany had to pull out of Russia

    BATTLE: KURSK
    The Battle of Kursk was the last offensive of the Germans before finally pulling out of Russia. The Germans, once again looking to take over Russia, initiated an offensive attack against Kursk. The Russians, as always, held them off. Worn down, Hitler called off the attack. Following this attack, the Red Army won the rest of the battles against Germany and ended the war. This was the final push before HItler pulled his troops out of Russia, and he lost lots of men in it

    D-DAY
    D-Day was the name given to the landngs on the beacjes of Normandy in 1944. On this day, 130,000 Americans, Britains, and Canidiens stormed the beaches of Normandy. THe men completely suprised the Germans and took over the beaches. This event was significant because it sen Germany on the downward slope, causing them to lose WWII. This event was a major turning point in the war, and was a gamble on the American side.

    This battle, like many others, was an attempt by the German Offensive. However, what is different about this one is it was a final resort for the Germans. They attacked the Allies by suprise in a last-ditch attempt to get back into the war. However, within weeks, the army fell. This was the last offensive by the Germans, and when they retreated, it gave the Allies courage and hope to continue to fight, as they knew they were getting close to winning. It was the begining of the end.

    The Battle of Berlin was the final fight for many in the war. The Russians invaded Germany, as the Germans had invaded Russia years before, and took over the capital. Germany fell in three weeks to the Russians, ending the war once and for all. The significance of the event is that THE WAR ENDED, and Germany was split into two halves, capitalist and communist. The Berlin Wall was also built, as Berlin was split the same way as the rest of the country.

    The U.S.A., after Japan failed to surrender, dropped two atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, officially ending WWII for all countries. The significance is that THE WAR ENDED, and the U.S. revealed the fact they had nuclear technology, leading to the Cold War.
