  • Ulster Workers' Council strike

    General strike performed by unionists against the Sunningdale Agreement.
  • Guildford pub bombings

    The IRA detonated 2 bombs at 2 pubs in Guildford. They were targeted because they were popular with British soldiers from the nearby Pirbright Barracks. 4 Soldiers and 1 Civilian were killed. 65 people were wounded.
  • Blanket Protests

    A protest held in the Maze Prison in Northern Ireland by IRA prisoners against their new status as standard prisoners. Prisoners were naked or blanketed.
  • Dirty Protest

    Republican prisoners refused to leave their cells which led to them smearing excrement on cell walls. This was to protest maltreatment from Prison Guards. 250 took part.
  • Assassination of Airey Neave

    British Shadow Secretary of State for Northern Ireland was assassinated by the Irish National Liberation Army with a bomb.
  • Warrenpoint Ambush

    The IRA ambushed a British Army convoy with 2 large IED's. 18 Soldiers killed and more than 20 severely wounded.
