Assassination of S. Korea First Lady

Start of Elementary School (6 years)
All students, except university students, had six out of seven days of school. However, on 2012, there was a law passed that students are not required to go to saturday schools anymore. -
Assassination of Park Chung Hee
Park Chung Hee was the president when Junhee was born. He is the father of Park Geun Hye who is the current female president in South Korea.
After the death of Park Chung Hee, citizens in Korea were confused as to what to do. -
The Martial Law and Protest
On May 7th, due to the assassination of Park Chung Hee, the major general Chun Doo-hwan took charge and declared the Martial Law. -
Start of the Gwangju Massacre
Due to the declaration of the Martial Law by Chun Doo-Hwan, the students from Chonnam National University protested in Gwangju. This ended on May 27 and was called the "Gwangju Massacre". At least 200 students were killed during the massacre. More information to read here:

Junhee was very proud of her school. EWHA woman's university, because this university is ranked seven in Korea. -
The Largest Organized Strike
Workers in the automotive and shipbuilding industries protested and went on a strike against a new law that was created in order to make firing employs much easier. After one day of the strike, it spreaded to even the hospitals. On December 28, the riot reacted violently against the workers by using tear gases, in which the workers responded with bricks. This made Junhee "so very sensitive to democratization of Korea." -

Starting Work
Graduated from university after taking the highest level of three exams. Junhee failed the second exam and had to redo it the next year, but she learned from her mistakes and passed the second and the third exams consecutively.

Prime Minister's Award
Prime Minister's Award is given anually from the government. For Junhee, although it was an award symbolizing her hard work, she had to sacrifice her family time for this award. -
Going to Toronto, Canada.
Junheee's husband was appointed to go to Toronto because he is a diplomat and so, her family all moved to Toronto. This is the first break Junhee had since her work started and the start of her international life. -
Going to Bucharest, Romania
After going to Toronto, Junhee's husband had to move to Romania, Bucharest again. -
Back to Seoul, Korea
Junhee and her daughter came back to Korea after the five years of diplomacy her husband had. However, her husband did not return with them and came after one month due to his work.
