The communists took over the country and began to forcefully take away property from the "rich" or "well-off" in the name of the poor, working class. Her family almost lost everything to the government, and she was almost expelled from the university for not being like everyone else. -

In 1926, Ayn Rand escaped Soviet Russia and headed to America to "visit relatives." The Soviet authorities thought that her visit would be short, but she had planned to never return. -

Ayn Rand began writing "The Fountainhead" in 1935. In the midst of her writing, she decided to stop working on "The Fountainhead" for awhile, and write her novellete, Anthem.
