  • The Battle of Gonzales

    The Mexican troops had given the Texans a cannon for the frequent Comanche raids they had to induce. Yet, when the Mexicans wanted it back, the Texans did not give it back and a fight broke out known as the Battle of Gonzales. Some people involved were, Santa Anna because he was "ruling" Mexico.

    Siege of Bexar

    The Texan army marched on San Antonio de Bexar, in San Antonio, the main city of the Mexican troops. Stephen Austin sent James Bowie and James W. Fannin Jr. with ninety men to look for a protected location nearby from which to attach the town. General Cos. realized and sent Colonel Ugartechea out with 275 men and two cannons to attach the small advance force led by Bowie. The two forces soon clashed yet, the Texans had made victory. This victory had again, struck pride in the hearts of Texans.
  • The Grass Fight

    The Texans had received news that a shipment of silver was arriving from Mexico on a mule train. Early November morning, Erastus "Deaf" Smith, saw a train of mules headed towards the town and got excited. Smith soon reported this to Bowie and Bowie quickly sent a group of men to intercept the mules, when they did, they realized the mules were carrying not silver, but grass!
  • Travis's Letter

    William B. Travis had sent this very important letter written to "the People of Texas and All Americans in the World". For reinforcement at the Battle of the Alamo, since the Texans were desperately losing to the Mexican powers. This letter is still a very important piece of Texan history today.
  • The Treaty of Velasco

    The Treaty of Velasco was 2 treaties talking about Texas Independence. There was one secret treaty and one public treaty. The public one consisted of 10 articles and stated, that Mexico had to withdraw its forces from Mexico and never take up arms with Texas again. The secret one only consisted of 6 additional articles and talked about Santa Anna's release if he granted permission for Mexico's significance of recognition towards Texas.
  • Battle of San Jacinto

    Texas and Mexico are fighting in the Texas war for Independence. Which was a significant battle in Texas history. This battle happened on April 21, 1846. This battle lasted 18 minutes. It was near Houston, Texas and Texas had won not only the battle but their independence as well.
