Alexander shows the world his invention.
In July of 1877, the Bell Telephone Company was formed by Gardiner Hubbard. The Charles Williams shop made the first telephones under the direction of building.jpg (58794 bytes) Watson, who in effect was the Research and Development Department of the company. Alexander Graham Bell opted out of the day-to-day managing of the company and traveled to England, staying for over a year. By the end of 1877 there were three thousand telephones in service. -
Switching Board was introduced.
In 1878 a manual switching board was introduced that allowed many phones to be connected through a single exchange. The first switchboard was located in New Haven Connecticut. Interestingly enough, the first switching board operators were teenage boys. With the invention of the switchboard, exchanges opened rapidly across the country. Because of the fierce competition, some cities actually had two telephone exchanges. -
Candlestick is invented.
Popular from the 1890s to the 1930s, the candlestick phone was separated into two pieces. The mouth piece formed the candlestick part, and the receiver was placed by your ear during the phone call. This style died out in the ’30sC when phone manufacturers started combining the mouth piece and receiver into a single unit. -

Cordless phone invented for more convienece.
A jazz musician named Teri Pall invented a version of the cordless phone in 1965 but could not market her invention, as its 2-mile (3.2 km) range caused its radio signals to interfere with aircraft communications. In 1968, she sold her rights to the cordless phone to a manufacturer who modified it for practical use. -
The worlds first flip phone was launched.
The mobile phone industry was revolutionized by Motorola when it launched the world's first flip phone, otherwise known as a "clamshell" phone, on January 3, 1996. -
Iphone generation released and introduced to public.
The first generation iPhone was released on June 29, 2007; the most recent iPhone models are the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, which were unveiled at a special event on September 9, 2015. The user interface is built around the device's multi-touch screen, including a virtual keyboard.
