    Da Gama was a friend and student of Christopher Columbus at the exploration school in Spain. He wanted to find a route to Asia. In 1497 he sailed all around Africa to get to India for trade routes. He was the first explorer to sail around Africa. It impacted the U.S. cause it caused new learning of trading and trade routes.

    The Posting of the 95 Theses was created by Martin Luther. In 1517 he posted 95 reasons with what is wrong with the church. He nalled it on the church door, and when asked to recant it he refused. It is important because rather he liked it or not Martin Luther officially starts the Prosetant Reformation.

    King Henry VIII's divorce from Catherine of Argon due to her miscarriages and unfulfilled promises of a boy heir. When she finally had a son he died at a young age. Henry blamed Catherine of his died son and they got divorce. This is important because of their divorce this years later created the Church of England.

    The establishment of St.Augustine in modern-day Florida was colonized in 1565. When Pero de Aviles from Spain sailed through the Atlantic to explorer through the north of Flordia to the south of Florida. This was very important cause it was the first colonized European colony in North America.

    In 1585 the Queen of England wanted a shot of the exploration race and hired a man named Walter Raleigh and 500 colonists to start a colony in Roanoke, Virgina. He went and got the colony started and went back to England. When he came back there was nothing left,but a tree that carved the letters Cro . Some say they were killed by the Croaton Indians.

    Jamestown was a Virginia Company founded colony from England. King James gave permission for 144 men to start a colony. Susan Constant,Godspeed, and Discovery was sent to Virginia. In 1621 200 more colonists showed. This is important cause it marks the begining of the 13 colonies.

    The colony of Georgia was founed in 1732 by James oglethorpe. It was named after the King George II of England. It was made to block Spainish invasion on South Carolina from Florida. Also by French rom Louisiana. It has impacted U.S. cause it ends and completes the 13 colonies.

    In 1753 Washington was sent to the French Fort on peace matters to discuss with the French Ambassador. Major Wahington, English, tried to grab notes when on accident he fired and shoot the French Ambassador. This is one factor that starts the French and Idian War.

    The Treaty of Paris of 1763 ended the French and Indian war betwwen the French and Indans as allies fought against Britain. It was fought over complete control of the Ohio River Valley. In the terms of the Treaty of Paris France gave up all its land in North America, England kept its land in North America and control over all Canada, and Indians got nothing for fighting the war.

    On October 7, 1763 Parliament ordered all colonies and colonists not to go over the Appalachian Mts. After the French and Indian war colonists decided to move west of the mountains. But, the Indians were kidnapping and killing colonists. So Parliamnet issued that act which made colonists mad. This affected U.S. because it was the first act passed by England.

    The Boston Massacre happened on March 5,1770. One day a squadron of Britiish passed a crowd of drunk colonists when out of nowhere someone fired. The soldiers shot and killed three colonists. It affected U.S. cause it brung the U.S. and England closer to war.

    On the night of December 16, 1773 Sameul Adams and the Sons of Liberty dressed like Mohawk indians and boarded three ships in the Boston Harbor and threw 342 chests of tea into the harbor. The resulted in a the closing of the harbor and the Coercive Acts in 1774. This brung the two sides even closer to war then before.

    The 1st Continental Congress was a meeting of delegates from twelve of the thriteen colonies. They met from Sept. 5 to October 26 , 1774 in Philadelphia. The purpose was to make America a free and independent country, one without Britian.

    In 1803 President Jefferson negioated a sale of the Louisiana land from the French. Jefferson bought, with the permission of Congress, over 827,000 square miles of land from the French Emporer. All land west of the Mississippi River was 20 cents a mile. It cost around $15 million dollars. This impacted U.S. cause it double the size of the U.S.
  • Lewis and Clark Expedition

    Lewis and Clark Expedition
    In 1803 President jefferson asked his personal secretary, Meriweather Lewis, to explore the land he purchased from the French. Lewis with the help of his friend William Clark explored almost two years worth of land. It was called the Lewis and Clark Expedition. This was important cause they explorered over miles and miles of land to figure out what was new of the purchased land.

    In 1830 President Andrew Jackson ordered and signed an act into law saying that all unsettled land west of the Mississippi in exchange fro the Indians Territory and in its existing borders. Some went peacefully but some refused and federal agents came on Jackson's orders to kill if they refuse and many did refuse and were shot to death. This affected U.S. cause many government officals broke alot of constitutional and federal laws just to get whant they wanted

    A border skirmish along the Rio Grande started off the fighting. On May 13 we decleared war againist Mexico. With the Mexican government and army led by Gen. Santa Anna invaded and killed a squad of U.S. soldiers. Taylor and Scott, Gens. in the U.S. invaded the Mexico. Mexico lost 1/3 of its territory in U.S.

    In 1839 a man named John Sutter came to California to make a fort called Fort Sutters and had a farm and city. He hired a man named James Marshal to build a barn and he found gold. The word got out and in 1849 the Gold Rush happened. Millions came to San Fransico. It was important cause the population build up from the Gold Rush made CA able to become a state in 1850.

    The Compromise of 1850 was held in the House and the Senate. In a dispute between the North and Southern states and congressman. When Congressman Henry Clay got tried of the fighting in the Senate he came up with a compromise. One, each new territory will decide weather they are free or slave states. Two, this will make California a free sate. Three, Washington ,D.C. will have slave trade. And four, there was a horrible fugitive slave law. Its important cause new states can be free of slave.
  • Dred Scott Case

    Dred Scott Case
    In 1857 a doctor moved in different places around the country a lot. He lived in missouri and travled to Wisconsin in which was a free state. While in Wiscousin the doctor died on way to Missouri and his slave, Dred Scott was a free man. The doctor's kids wanted him to come back but he refused so Dred sued for his freedom to the Supreme Court. But the Chief Justice like slavery and Dred was not free. This is important cause it labled slaves as property not people.
  • John Brown's Raid

    John Brown's Raid
    In 1859 a man named John Brown, radical ablionist, wanted to free the slaves and start a slave rebellion in the South. So on a midnight day he and his nine sons raided the Virginia Federal Arsenal. He planned to tell the slaves , common sense says tell the slaves, but unforturenly no slaves show up. When the Marines showed up all his sons died by fighting to the death. Brown was captured and executed of treason. This made many Northerns and Southerns mad and was a huge tipping point.
  • Election of 1860

    In 1860 the states would choose a new president. There were many parties which included Republican and Democrat. When the votes got in Abraham Lincoln, Republican, won the presidency. He won the electoral vote not the popular vote. BUt many Southerns didn't like him at all which caused six months later the succedes of the Sothern states, starting with Soth Carolina.
