The Story of an Hour

  • Mr. Mallard

    Louise Mallard is told by Josephine, her sister-in-law, that Mr. Mallard has died in a terrible accident. Richard, Mr. Mallards friend, shares the news it was a railroad accident.

    Mrs. Mallard is introduced with a heart condition and is made aware of something has happened to her husband.

    • Lousie Mallard weeps in the arms of Josephine, goes to her room and locks herself in there alone to reflect on the news she has just learned
  • Reflection

    After learning of her husbands death and taking time to grieve alone, she is overcome with the feeling of comfort that she is "free".
  • Greef and Empathy

    She is unsure about what emtions she is feeling, but knows that once she is in the presence of her husband and his look of death that she will weep at the sight.
  • Josephine Worrying

    Josephine sits outside Lousie Mallards door worried she is harming herself alone in a locked room about the news of her husbands death. Unaware of the fact Lousie is not greiving anymore.
  • Uncertainty

    Lousie Mallard and Josephine walk down the stairs to where everyone is down stairs. The door opens up and greatly Mallard, Mrs. Mallard's husband, walks in the door unharmed and completely fine.
  • Ending

    After Mr. Mallard walks through the door and is safe and well, Mrs. Mallard dies of a heart disease from her heart condition.
