Johanna Solf's Birth
Johanna Solf was born on September 14th, 1887. This was before World War II, so she was able to enjoy parts of her life. -
Death Camps
Since there were certain camps dedicated to torturous work, there were also camps ready to get rid of any unneeded slave workers. Some Jews were sent to these terrible concentration camps to just murder them. These camps were established only for mass murder, and witnessing one could've been one reason why The Solf Circle was established. -
The 'Final Solution'
The 'Final Solution' was the so called "solution" to the problems Nazi Germany had with the Jews. Nazi Germans all agreed on mass murder of all Jews, and this was knows as their solution to the "problem" with the Jewish community and Jewish population. They also targeted and murdered different groups, including Gypsies and Homosexuals. -
The Beginning
This is the time when the Nazis just started created concentration camps and death camps. this drove The Solf Circle towards creation -
The School BEFORE The Re-opening
Elisabeth von Thadden founded the Evangelisches Landerziehungsheim für Mädchen, which was the school in which her ashes were buried. This school allowed both Jewish and German students, until the Nazis came around and tried to enforce the removing of all Jewish students. Elisabeth refused and the school was shut down. During this, Elisabeth was contributing to resistance groups such as The Solf Circle -
Founding of The Solf Circle
The Solf Circle is founded and created by Johanna Solf and her daughter Countess Lagi. The group is created to help the fleeing Jewish citizens by housing them and making them personalized, fake, documents that hold their fake information so they can get passed the Germans. -
Johanna's Husband's Death
Johanna's husband died in 1936. This drove Johanna to make a difference before her death, and she started by founding The Solf Circle in 1936 as well. -
Conferences
The Solf Circle regularly held conferences where they’d discuss the evils of Nazi Regime and how, sooner or later, Germany would recover from the rule of Adolf Hitler. -
Talk of Adolf Hitler Execution Costs Life
The Solf Circle had talked about killing Adolf Hitler, and this led to the execution of Nikolaus von Halem in 1943, a couple days after the Germans arrested the members of the Solf Circle. -
Berlin Tea Party - Betrayal
The Solf Circle was broken apart and arrested by Germans after attending a tea party in Berlin on September 10th, 1943. Some of the Solf Circle members were even killed by Germans, causing most of them to have their lives halted. -
The One Behind the Betrayal
Reckzeh was the mastermind behind the Betrayal. Reckzeh went to the Berlin Tea Party on September 10th, and reported their conference and their ideas and conspiracies to the Nazi Police and Government. This led to the arresting and killing of The Solf Circle members. -
Helmuth James Graf von Moltke
Helmuth James Graf von Moltke tapped into the talk between Reckzeh and the Germans, and warned The Solf Circle about the betrayal. Unfortunately, it was too late, and Nazi Officers had already surrounded the area and started raiding the party. -
Elisabeth von Thadden
Elisabeth continued the group and used her birthday as an excuse to hold more Solf Circle meetings. She invited a Swiss doctor, which contributed to the end of The Solf Circle, unfortunately. -
Kiep After the Arresting
Kiep, unlike the majority of the members of The Solf Circle, was spared to get some information out of. He was tortured in vicious ways, attempting to get him to crack. Whether he did tell or not isn't known, but after he supposedly did or did not, the Nazi Officers executed him, even after mass torture. -
The Adwehr
The Abwehr met its demise on February 1944. This event was tied together with the arresting and killing of The Solf Circle during the Berlin tea party. -
Elisabeth's Death
Elisabeth, after the closing of her school, was attending The Solf Circle meetings and other anti-nazi meetings. Unfortunately, she was caught in the act and thrown into prison. Her sentence was death. -
The End
This is the time when the Nazis were controlled and surrendered. Help from groups and individuals like The Solf Circle contributed to the end of this massive killing fest. -
The Elisabeth School
After the war, Elisabeth von Thadden’s family and friends buried her ashes where her school was, which was reopened with the name Elisabeth-von-Thadden-Schule. This school runs to this day -
Johanna Solf's Death
Johanna Solf died on November 4th, 1954. She made it through the Holocaust, but she didn't live long enough to have her 67th birthday.
