The Hancock Shaker Village began in the late 1780s -
300 believers and 3000 acres
In the 1830s more than 300 believers were added and the Shakers came out with 3000 acres of land. -
Loss of the believers.
In the early 1900s the shakers lost 50 believers due to lack of converts needed to sustain the society. -
End of the Shakers
in 1960, Shakers could no longer maintain their city of peace and sold the remaining property to a local group of shaker enthusiats.
