    After Germany had reassured that they wouldn't fight on two fronts by signing the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact. Germany and the USSR invaded Poland, and with that the Second World War had started.

    Unidentified planes bombed the territory of Kassa. It was believed that the Soviet Union bombed it, which gave the base for Hungary to enter the war. One day later Bárdossy announced war with Russia.

    Allied powers agreed on a fight up until all the totelitarian states had been defeated. All together 25 countries participated and besides that they had accepted the Atlantic Charter, which underlined the people's rights and freedom.

    Battle of El-Alamein
    One of the major turning points of the African front. Africa was favorable for Germany as it had resources (oil eg.) for the war. However, after the British victory, the allied forces had arrived to Casablanca, where German and Italian forces were surrended and opened the way to Italy.

    Kállay led a double politics during these years, which led to the catastrophe of Hungary. From the outside he remained allied with Germany, meanwhile conveyed secret negotiations with Russia. All these backfired on Hungary and resulted in the occupation of the country by Germany.

    Battle of Kursk
    It was one of the turning points of the war on the eastern front. Germany couldn't break trough the Soviet lines, while the Red Army started to liberate most of the countries in Europe. After the Polish uprising put down by the nazis, most of the central European countries turned against Germany.

    After that allied forces had landed on the shores of France, Hitker faced a two front war, which resulted in the total faliure of the Germans. This stareted the collapse of the country, and became the first step towards the end of the Second World War.

    Cease-fire with the Soviet Union
    After the German occupation, the liberating Red Army was ready to attack Hungary. Meanwhile, a delegation was sent to sign armistice with the Soviet Union. Horthy announced a cease-fire, however soon he had to resign and Szálasi was appointed as Prime Minister.

    Conference in Yalta
    Churchil, Roosevelt and Stalin had agreed on the joint occupation of Germany, that they would co-operate until they could capitulate the country. Besides that they divided Poland and released a proclamation of a Liberated Europe.

    On the Pacific front the war was still going between Japan and America. While Japan tried to fight back, America bombed Hirosima and Nagasaki, therefore Japan offered a cease for America and with that the Second World War had ended on all fronts.
