Scottsboro boys got on train with 7 white boys and 2 white girls
The Scottsboro boys jumped on the train and forced the white boys to jump off. Once they got kicked off the white boys told the station master that they were on the train. Scottsboro boys are arrested.

Roy Wright
Roy Wright was only 12 at the time of his arrest and he was the only boy not sentenced with death. For him 11 jurors thought he should face the death penalty and the 12th believed he should recieve life inprisonment. -
Willie Roberson

The Third Trial

The First Execution

Ruby sends a letter
Ruby's Letter Ruby Bates sent a letter to Earl Streetman denying that she was raped. She says that she was forced to blame the boys by the police man. Lawyers were arrested
Nashville police arrested two lawyers for trying to bribe Victoria Price to change her testimony with $1,500. She revealed this to the police and they were arrested. Scottsboro Defense Commitee

Ozie Powell
Ozie Powell was on his way back to Birmingham jail and he pulled out a knife and slashed Deputy Edgar Blalocks throat because he was threatened. Ruby Goes on Tour
Ruby Bates tours with the ILD so that she can apologize for al the trouble she caused them. She felt really bad about what she did and wanted to side with the people fighting for the boys. She went to rallies and spoke to crowds about what really happened. -
They leave Alabama
Wright and Norris leave Alabama which violates their parole. Chalmers persuades them to come back. They were promised to be lenient but were both returned to jail. Last Scottsboro Boy
Clarence Norris was the last Scottsboro boy and he died on January 23, 1989. He died in Bronx Community Hospital. H e was diagnosed with Alzheimer's somewhere in the 1980's. -
The trials ended
John Kander, Susan Stroman, and David Thompson wrote a message finally declared the Scottsboro boys free. It talks about how since the boys were arrested they have changed lives, sparked movements, and changed the course of history. They wrote that the boys proved that they do matter and that the truth will set you free.
