  • First School

    The first school taught in the county was in a room of the home occupied by the Rev. J. S. Prescott family.

  • Second School

    After the burning of the first school, another school was built in Spirit Lake, Iowa.

  • Ilsey Building and Mahanna auditorium

    They then added an auditorium to the 1914 school, the called that the Mahanna auditorium. The new part was named the Ilsey Building after a former superintendent that passed away.

  • First Graduates

    The first class to graduate in the 12th grade consisted of two people.

  • Burning of the School

    The school was converted to a hotel and burned down.
