    Nicholas II Crowned Tsar of Russia
    Nicholas II was crowned Tsar of Russia on the 26th day of May in 1896, due to Alexander III(His predacessor and father)'s death. He was married to Alexandra Feodorovna at the time of marriage. This day, May 26th, started the final Tsar's reign.
  • The Russo-Japanese War

    The Russo-Japanese War
    On the 8th of Febuary, the Russo-Japanese war began. Russia and Japan were fighting over control of Manchuria and Korea, so they went to war. Russia was expecting a quick and easy victory. However, all their technology was outdated, and Japan whipped Russia's приклад. This war shook the people's confidence in the tsar, making a revolution slightly easier
  • Bloody Sunday

    Bloody Sunday
    On January 22, 1905, thousands of people marched on the Winter Palace in St. Petersburg to present a petition of economic grievances to the tsar, led by the priest Georgy Capon. The tsar sent his troops to confront the protesters, and the troops killed thousands of the protestors. This massacre was nicknamed "Bloody Sunday", and it destroyed the people's view of the tsar as a benevolent protector.

    On January 22, 1905, Bloody Sunday took place. This outraged the public, who rioted in the streets, participated in strikes, and generally mutinied. The Okhrana was very active during the Revolution of 1905. The government could not control the people, but they eventually managed to stop the revolution on July 16, 1907. The government was forced to do some reforms, including outlawing capital punishment and establishing a Duma, a parliamentary body. These reforms were in the October Manifesto.

    On March 8, 1917, protests began against the tsar in Petrograd due to a variety of causes. Russian casualties were EXTREMELY high in World War One, and the government was corrupt(One word: Rasputin). Due to this, 90,000 demonstrators gathered in the streets of Petrograd and protested against the tsar. Strikes had almost never been this strong, but the strikes only got bigger, with the workers, and eventually the soldiers, joining the strike. The government couldn't control the strikers.

    Abdication of Tsar Nicholas II
    On March 15, 1917, Tsar Nicholas II abdicated the throne, due to the fact that he had no control over the people or the authorities and things would only get worse. He had no chance of regaining power after the March Revolution, since the proletariat, the military, and the peasants were against him. Consequentally, Tsar Nicholas II and the Romanov family were exiled to Siberia.

    The October Revolution
    On October 7, 1917, Vladmir Lenin(Who recently returned from exile to Siberia) and his allies overthrew Alexander Kerensky and the Provisional Government, which was established after the fall of Tsar Nicholas II. Now, the communists and non-communists could battle over control of Russia in what would be called the Russian Civil War.

    Fighting between the Red and White armies began on October 29th, 1917. While the Red Army was the communist forces, the White Army opposed them. The two armies were fighting for control over Russia, and the winner would get to decide Russia's fate.
  • The Treaty of Brest-Litovsk is Signed

    The Treaty of Brest-Litovsk is Signed
    The Treaty of Brest-Litovsk was signed on March 3rd, 1918 by Russia and the Central Powers. It officially ended Russia's participation in World War 1, but there had been an armistice for Russia weeks ago. The Germans wanted Russia to give up Finland, Russian Poland, Estonia, Livonia, Courland, Lithuania, Ukraine, and Bessarabia. Although these terms were harsh for Russia, Vladmir Lenin accepted them because he wanted to get Russia out of the war as quickly as possible.

    Russian Civil War Ends
    On the day of November 11th, 1922, the Red Army prevailed over the White Army, leaving Russia into communist hands. This day ended five years of bloody fighting, with over a million casualties. Now, only one thing was certain: communism. The communists were in control now.
  • The USSR is Formed

    The USSR is Formed
    On Deceber 30th, 1922, the USSR was officially formed under Vladmir Lenin, the leader of the Bolshevik party. However, Lenin died shortly after it's formation, causing Joseph Stalin to take power. The USSR was big even at the time of it's formation, but it grew to 15 countries- Russia, Ukraine, Georgia, Belorussia, Uzbekistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia.
