The Decembrist Revolt
A small group of nobles and army officers tried to overthrow the Czar's government in December 1825. The Czar executed five leaders and exiled hundreds more to Siberia. Showed the peoples loyalty to the Czar was eroding. -
Nicholas II Becomes Czar of Russia
Nicholas II became the last Czar of Russia after his father (Alexander III) died in November of 1894. Nicholas II was not trained to become the czar of Russia. Later in Nicholas' life, he and his family were exect=uted. -
The Russo-Japanese War
Despite having a larger amount of troops (and land) (and resources) Japan easily won the war. Since Russia lost the war, the defeat shows the declining power of Russia. It also shows the poor organization/ leadership of Russian military. The war was fought in Manchuria and Korea. -
Bloody Sunday
Bloody Sunday was a widespread revolt of Russia (peasents, workers, military, and non-Russian part of the empire). After Bloody Sunday, Nicholas II created some reforms to give the citizens more rights. -
World War I (Russian Involvment)
Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia. Russia began assembling its military force to help protect Serbia from Austria-Hungary. The number of casualties in Russia was about 11 million miltiary personnel and about 7 million civilians. -
The March Revolution
The March Revolution was a revolution focused around Petrograd which is now St.Petersburg, then the capital of Russia. During the chaos, members of the imperial parliament assumed control of the country, forming the Russian Provisional government. -
Czar Nicholas II abdicates the Throne
Following Russian struggles in WWI there is an uprising in Petrograd and the army joins the striking workers. Nicholas and his family were then taken to Yekaterinburg and killed. -

Creation of the U.S.S.R
The U.S.S.R stands for "Union of Soviet Socialists Republics". The USSR extended more than 6,800 miles, covering 11 of the world's 24 time zones. The USSR was mailny lead by Joseph Stalin until his death on March 5th 1953. -
Vladimir Lenin's Death
Vladimir Lenin died at the age of 53. Before he died, he suffered three severe strokes. Six years before Lenin's death, a woman named Fanny Kaplan attempted to assassinate Lenin (and obviously failed). Fanny shot Lenin in the jaw and the neck and managed to survive. Even thought Lenin survived, he was weakened from his injuries which contributed to his death in 1924
